Indian Dance Studio

Indian Dance Studio at BLS World School focuses on more than just mastering dance steps. It emphasizes the embodiment of stories and emotions through graceful and dynamic movements, offering a comprehensive approach to the art of dance.

Junior School

In primary and Junior school, music and movement play a central role as young learners express themselves through the combination of rhythmic motion and melodic tunes. This holistic approach promotes physical coordination, rhythm perception, and a joyful connection between music and movement, resulting in a dynamic and immersive learning experience. In junior school, dance is celebrated as an expression of movement. Students explore various dance forms, from classical to contemporary styles, delving into the richness of Indian dance traditions as well as other global influences.

Middle School

In middle school, students have the opportunity to choose dance as an elective, allowing them to engage in a diverse range of styles such as Indian classical forms including Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Kuchipudi, Odissi, Kathakali, Sattriya, Manipuri, and Mohiniyattam. This elective provides a comprehensive journey of self-expression where students learn basic steps and explore various dance traditions. Through engaging exercises and improvisational activities, they develop physical strength, flexibility, and creativity in sync with the music. Collaboration is emphasized as they participate in interdisciplinary projects that involve creating short movement sequences using different choreographic tools. These efforts culminate in captivating performances showcased at school assemblies and events.

Senior School

In senior school, dance classes build upon the foundational artistry introduced in middle school by offering specialized technique sessions in a variety of styles. Students engage more deeply with choreography, mastering complex compositional tools. The rigorous training prepares them for a range of performances, including grand dance productions and special assemblies. Collaboration is emphasized as students explore all aspects of stagecraft, from conceptualizing ideas to managing sound, props, and costumes. This comprehensive approach ensures that every performance shines with creativity and precision.
